Mountain Getaway

My hubby and I were invited to spend the weekend at my Aunt's friend's cabin with my family this weekend. It was so nice to visit the snowy Blues. I haven't been up there in years. It's called Toll Gate and my parents and I used to frequent it when I was growing up. Sledding in winter, mushroom hunting in late spring and huckleberry picking at the end of summer....ah...mountains.

This is what it looked like today. Cold and blustery enough to knock down a tree up the road and made us lose power. But all was well as we sipped coffee with Carolann's, playing Balderdash as the winds whipped outside.

Of course I had to look cute driving to the mountains! This is what I wore for the drive up and the majority of the weekend, sans boots while inside. I'm becoming a legging lover! I hope it's not too late to catch that tend train. We're a little slow in the NW when it comes to accepting trends.:0)

The above just wouldn't do for out in the snow. So I pulled out my ancient 1980s bib snow pants, in red, of course, and my newish winter duds. I determined that the bibs have had their day and I need ones that actually keep me warm. Not exactly what I want to go shopping for. But maybe I can find something cute, eh?

Go Blue!

It's Friday! Hooray! I'm teaching again today and dressed with school spirit, even though I'm not a fan of the t-shirt-ever. I've actually never really liked t-shirts. Not even when I was little or when everybody was wearing them in high school. It's the same with tennis shoes and polo shirts. I always had different shoes than everybody at school.

I also have a funny, yet common progession in my photos today. The first is the flash-a-smile-the-the-camera-is-going-off-NOW.

The second is strategically posed. Turn slightly to slim yourself and smile.

The third, the camera catches me off gaurd and I don't even get a smile in there.

Comments

I recently set my comments so that anyone and everyone could comment....doesn't it make you crazy not knowing who "anonymous" is? I did it so my mom and non-blogger friends could comment. But, wow! It makes me crazy.:0)

BTW: thanks to all of you for reading and commenting. This blogging this is really enjoyable!

Teaching

I'm teaching today and tomorrow, so, I'll be on my feet all day. Yikes. Haven't done that in a while. Wish me luck!

I love the brown and green together. And since a chocolate brown cardi is on my want list, I opted for grey. It just goes with everything.

*gasp*! It's a skirt!

So, as mentioned Monday, I'm trying to wear skirts or dresses more in the next few weeks. It'll look like a whole new wardrobe to most because I have some skirts for awhile and never worn them or maybe just once to an interview or something.

I've had this skirt for about a year and never worn it. I picked it up at Ann Taylor Loft for $10!

I wore the sweater pretty much all day so I didn't get to show off the button/pocket detail of the skirt.

I love these shoes! They seem pointier than most that I own, but they are unbelievably comfortable! Thank you Tsubo and Ebay and Already Pretty for introducing me to the wonderful shoes. They have a little heel on them and it makes me feel more dressed up than a flat or even a wedge. And the quilted detail gives a simple black shoe interest.

I know the skirt is considered a neutral, but to me it's patterned. I like the combo of the 2 patterns I chose for the outfit and the added texture of the sweater with a simple black tee underneath. I'm just so pleased with myself today, aren't I?

Stand By

I went with my old stand by...well, it's new this season. But it's perfect for the day nothing feels right. This outfit always feels right!

I'll be running around today. So walking shoes are a must.

This is a no necklace sweater, so I opted for a statement earring.

Tsubos and a Dress

I'm giving my Tsubos another try. Today will be a short workday, so I figured I could make it through without changing my shoes. As you know I'm not a heel wearer, at least not to work. we will see....

I tired on a bunch of clothes last night, mixing and matching and remixing. I have some great dresses and skirts I just have to figure out how to wear them comfortably. I feel that skirts and dresses need to be paired with heels. I think that's why I don't wear them much. Heels and my body have rarely gotten along.

Anyway, I'm going to try really hard to wear dresses and skirts this week and next. Perhaps I'll get in 2 or 3 wears!

Dinner Surprise

My parents called this afternoon to see if we'd be available for dinner and some browsing. It was so nice to see them! It's been awhile since we've all had dinner and spent time together. Well, only about a month, but that's a long while for us.

I thought it was the perfect time to try out my new shoes and tunic. I wasn't a fan at first, but it grew on me. The tunic is pretty shapeless, but adding the sweater helped immensely. I really like the colored tights with the skinnies and shoes. I may have to invest in a few colored pair of trouser socks, as well as, argyle in neutral colors.

I am sad to say that my new Tsubos are not as comfortable as I had hoped. However, this was their first wear, so I'll still give them a chance to get broken in.

I had to take a few more pictures when I got home because I look a little top heavy in the ones my mom took for me. (Sorry, Mom.) And then my husband interrupted me and the time got me in mid sentence, "Stop! I'm taking pictures." He laughs and closes the door.

And, finally the outfit:

Top: Liz Lang for Target (Maternity. No. I'm not preggers. I just liked the length, color and pattern.) Sweater: Merona. Jeans: YMI Premium. Shoes: Tsubo. Tights: HUE.

Casual Friday

Nothing too exciting today. It's really casual at my office on Fridays. It's not like me to wear anything hooded, but I tried on few other sweaters and this won the vote. I always get props from the kids on these shoes, which is fun.

Oh! Highlight of my day...SHOES in the mail! Will debut my new Tsubos next week for sure!

Back to Work

It was back to work today. I really enjoyed my day off finishing a scrapbook for a client, picking up the house, doing a little cooking too. If you had the day off, what did you do?

I wasn't sure what to wear, as usual. I flipped a page on my "outfit ideas" book and saw this one. I love the pink sleeves and colored buttons! Of course, I had to choose this not-very-warm outfit on the coldest day yet...30 degree at 8:30am. So, my pink sleeves didn't make an appearance. It was even shilly inside today.

I really miss wearing ballet flats with skinnies (much to the shigrin of my mother), so I opted for nylons in hopes of keeping me a little warm. It was okay inside, but outside, during the fire drill, was brutal.
